Being a Host Family

You need a will to help and the commitment to offer space in your home to two Belarusian boys or girls for two or four weeks.

While the children are here they need nourishment and it can be constant.  They eat a lot of fruit - it has been known for a child to eat 7 bananas in one hour! Even the local supermarket noticed that the consumption of bananas had gone up! I have not heard of one child that ever refuses to eat, though they might find what we offer a little different from what they are used to eating.

We host twice a year :

- for the month of February, when the children are aged 8 - 10 years old, and may have been poorly with infections during the previous year.

- mid June to mid July, when the children are aged around 10 plus.

While the children are here we offer support for you via a buddy family and by taking the children out for 2 or 3 days a week ensuring that we keep the weekends free for them to be with you for outings as a family.

Importantly some of the outings involve visits to the dentist and the optician, and to the doctor if it is thought necessary. We also provide clothing - as much as we can find, not only for the child/children that you are hosting but also for any siblings in their family.

We are fortunate to have a good relationship with local business and many trips and outings are donated by them - such as cream teas, swimming, cultural visits and one local supermarket helps us out with fruit for the entire visit.

You will find hosting very rewarding why not contact us to find out more -
